Oisin Nishikawa ‘Nanny Gabriel’ is a bassoonist, composer, poet and performance artist.
Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Nanny Gabriel received their Bachelors Degree in orchestral performance from McGill University and his Masters Degree from the Curtis Institute of Music. Gabriel is an active orchestral musician currently playing as a core member of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in Nishinomiya, Japan. They have performed previously with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Nanny Gabriel’s most recent work has been the “Poulenc Project”. A multidisciplinary collage of Poulenc’s oboe bassoon and piano trio, and original prose and song, the “Poulenc Project” is a powerful and dynamic storytelling of Nanny Gabriel’s gender exploration journey.
